During the football season, you would expect me and my buddies to be planning out endless parties and drinking sessions. This is the only time we can get to unwind, what with our busy schedules and personal lives. Football is one of the things which we absolutely love. And during this time of the year we would always assign a person each game to host the party.

In my apartment, I like to make sure that everyone has a great time. Since I have no idea how to cook, I would simply order out a few pizzas and wings in our neighborhood joint, and run out to the grocery for some beer and soda. My NFL koozies would be so much useful during these times especially when we would usually have no idea which of the cans happens to be ours on the table. This way we can simply focus on the game and have fun together.

My nephews are coming over for a vacation in a few days. I have not seen them for such a long time what with my busy schedule at work. I hardly get to come home for Christmas as my line of work entails that we are busy during this particular time of the year. I am happy that my sister and her kids are finally coming over for a visit.

Since this will be the first time of my nephews to visit the city, I decided to get them some welcome gifts. I got some fan gear from the state’s team in order to get them acquainted with the sports and how we take these things seriously around here. I am pretty sure the kids will be excited to tour around the area, and I am glad I am able to have the full week off to spend quality time with them.

My son has been collecting Mcdonald s hockey cards since time immemorial. Hockey has always been his passion, after we got him into some hockey classes when he was still in middle school. Ever since that time he has always loved the sport and looked up to pro players as his idols. My husband and I made sure all our kids are involved in a particular sport to get them away from bad vices.

This sure did the trick, as all of our kids have their own sports they are particularly enthusiastic about. My son would collect various memorabilia which he diligently gets from saving up his allowances. Even now that he is still in college, he has kept all his cards and collections in his room at our home, some he had even taken with him to his college dorm.

Watching games, concerts and other events are truly fun. The thing is, we have to come really early or else we would end up having to stand up the entire time. It can be tiring and wearisome when this happens. But more often than not, the entire area will be flocked by fans and enthusiasts and you have no other choice.

Our school has decided to have a fundraiser to send some sports equipment to a community in the area in need of new equipment for their kids. Since this particular community have kids who are getting into bad vices particularly drugs, the city has been long concerned about the future of these children and would want to do something about it. It is about time that we extend our help to those who are less fortunate especially when the rest of us are living comfortable lives.

We decided to join the government’s campaign to push for improving children’s lives in the hopes of saving these children from ending up dead or locked up in jail. Everyone was tasked to do their contributions to repair basketball courts, donate footballs, basketball equipment and anything else we can possibly provide to make sure they stay away from drugs and other vices. Hopefully we can make a difference one child at a time.

Sports are considered as part and parcel of our life. Even if we are not great athletes ourselves, we would have at least one particular sport we are interested in and would want to be updated in. I feel this way because everyone in my family has varying preferences when it comes to sports. I prefer football along with my husband. My oldest son plays varsity basketball in school, while my youngest daughter is hooked on hockey.

Since she takes up lessons after class, she is trying to improve on her game and be able to get fit at the same time. My youngest is quite an achiever, as she is particularly conscious not only about academics but also makes it a point that she is physically active as well. In her room, one would not realize it is a girl’s turf since there are NHL logos displayed everywhere. This definitely shows how much she loves this sport.

Two months ago I started watching “Lidia’s Italy” on PBS. The chef and host of the show is the world-renowned Lidia Bastianich. She has such an ease on camera explaining how to prepare traditional Italian food that even the most inexperienced cook will be inspired to pick up a frying pan or baking dish.

I’ve tried out several of her recipes with great success. All of her hearty dishes have rapidly become family favorites, particularly her lasagna. In fact, when putting together our emergency food kits, my children insisted that we include cheap cheesy lasagna so even in the worst conditions they can still have a comforting, hearty Italian meal.
