Fun with Billiards

Billiards is a general term that refers to cue sports such as pool, carom, snooker, etc. It is a game that requires special equipment. First, you will need a billiards table; then balls and rack, cues, scoreboards and chalk among others. Billiard tables come in four basic types – the standard 7 or 8 inches and the oversized 8 and 9 foot tables. Cue balls are made of ivory, wood or other synthetic materials. The cue stick is usually 58 inches in length and weighs 18 to 21 ounces. In billiards, the chalk is applied at the end of the cue stick to reduce friction between the cue shaft and the bridge caused by perspiration.

This is a game that can be played by almost anyone, male or female. For as long as he or she has an idea of the official billiard rules, he or she can enjoy playing this fascinating sport. This is a game that is usually played in billiard halls. Some homes today have entertainment rooms that house a billiard table and the corresponding billiards equipment. It is an opportunity for members of the family to bond together in a friendly game of billiards.
